DAY 1, Sunday - Depart for Chile

DAY 2, Monday - Arrive in Santiago
Welcome to Chile! Morning arrival in the energetic capital city of Santiago; transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. Your tour will begin with an orientation meeting with your Tour Manager at approximately 5 PM, followed by dinner. We recommend that you select flights which arrive no later than 2 PM

DAY 3, Tuesday - Santiago City Tour
This morning's city tour takes you through the colonial neighborhoods that contrast with the modern financial center, known as Sanhattan. Pass by beautiful residences that are part of the Barrio Universitario (University Area). In the historic center view the lively Plaza de Armas, with its emblematic buildings, fountains, and sculptures. Continue with a drive along the green Parque Forestal with its stunning Fine Arts Museum. Then, crossing the bohemian neighborhood of Bellavista, climb up San Cristóbal Hill to a vista point, for a magnificent panoramic view of the city with its backdrop of the towering Andes Mountains. This afternoon, join the optional excursion to the Undurraga Winery in the Maipo Valley, one of Chile's most important wine producing areas. Taste some of Chile's world-famous wines before returning to Santiago

DAY 4, Wednesday - Puerto Montt, Puerto Varas and the Lake District
Today, take a short flight to the southern port city of Puerto Montt, gateway to the Lake District, a region of beautiful crystal-clear emerald lakes. Continue through the rolling countryside to the charming village of Puerto Varas, on the shore of Lago Llanquihue, known as the "city of roses." On a clear day, you can see views of the imposing snow-capped Osorno and Calbuco Volcanoes. After dinner, perhaps take a walk through the town with its wood shingled homes and a rose-encircled plaza

DAY 5, Thursday - Visit a Local Mapuche Family
Today, visit a local Mapuche family on their farm. Tour the organic garden displaying herbal and medicinal plants. View iconic plants associated with the Mapuche people, such as maqui, canelo, and araucaria, and learn about their uses. Then, participate in a short lecture that delves into the history of South America's first peoples and the unique aspects of Mapuche culture. Conclude with a traditional lunch featuring authentic dishes

DAY 6, Friday - Lake Crossing to Bariloche with Petrohue
Your journey through the Andes takes you to Petrohue where you board a catamaran to Peulla, a nature lover's paradise. After clearing customs at Peulla, it's time for lunch. Then, crossing the border into Argentina continue by ship to Puerto Blest and to Puerto Pañuelo where you disembark and drive to scenic Bariloche. Nestled in the foothills of the Andes in Lake Nahuel Huapi National Park, the city is reminiscent of a Swiss Alpine village. Circled by forests, stunning lakes, and soaring snow-capped mountains, Bariloche is a year-round resort. The rest of the day is at leisure in this stunning setting

DAY 7, Saturday - Bariloche Small Circuit Tour
In Bariloche, travel along the shore of Nahuel Huapi Lake to several vista points, showing the many natural highlights of this breathtaking region, including Huemul Island. At Cerro Campanario (Belfry Hill) ascend by chair lift to the peak - you'll be astonished by the amazing views from the lookout point of the surrounding lakes, mountains, and the Llao Llao Peninsula. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. You will have leisure time to indulge in town, known as the chocolate capital of Argentina

DAY 8, Sunday - Flight to Buenos Aires
Travel today on a flight to the cosmopolitan city of Buenos Aires. Its beauty is apparent as you arrive in this 19th century "Paris of South America" with its elegant architecture, wide tree-shaded boulevards, striking monuments, and sprawling parks. The rest of the day is yours to get acquainted with this city that has a very distinct European flavor. This evening, dinner is at a local restaurant

DAY 9, Monday - Buenos Aires City Tour
Discover the city's highlights this morning on a tour that includes the Plaza de Mayo, Metropolitan Cathedral, and Casa Rosada (government palace) where you can see the balcony from which Eva and Juan Peron made their speeches. Then, to the colorful La Boca neighborhood, a working-class barrio, and the old quarters of San Telmo and Caminito, a mix of colonial style homes, narrow lanes, artists' lofts, and very trendy cafes. Drive to the Recoleta Cemetery, final resting place of many of the wealthiest and most important Argentine historical figures. The grounds here cover more than four city blocks, filled with tombs, and more than 6,400 mausoleums including the tomb of Eva "Evita" Peron, always heaped with flowers and letters from adoring fans. Spend the rest of the afternoon exploring some of Buenos Aires' neighborhoods and fabulous collection of shops before this evening's tango lesson with professional Argentine tango dancers. DAY 10, Tuesday - Full Day in Buenos Aires
Revisit some of your favorite places in the city today, or shop to your heart's content for custom leatherwear and designer clothes on famous Florida Street. Don't miss the optional Gaucho Party at the Santa Susana Ranch. Get ready for a rustic experience at this traditional Argentine ranch (estancia), dedicated primarily to agriculture and the breeding of cattle and horses. After an interesting tour of the ranch, enjoy a typical Argentine barbecue lunch, followed by a folklore show with lively music and dancing and ring races where gauchos show their skills as riders. Tonight, perhaps treat yourself to a fabulous Argentine beef dinner at one of the city's many superb steak restaurants

DAY 11, Wednesday - Flight to Iguazu Falls
Depart Buenos Aires by flight to Iguazu on the Argentine side of the Falls. You will have time to settle in at the hotel before tonight's dinner

DAY 12, Thursday - The Argentinian Falls, Upper and Lower Circuit, Devil's Throat
A railway car transports you to the Upper Circuit of the Falls.* As you walk to the Lower Circuit, the enormous power of nature surrounds you. Continue along the catwalks to Devil's Gorge and admire spectacular "Devil's Throat" the most magnificent of all of the cataracts. View, photograph, and feel the spray of the thundering waters, one of nature's most impressive achievements, a unique experience for your senses. The rest of the day is devoted to exploring the treasures of Iguazu National Park, designated a World Heritage Site for its rare and endangered flora and fauna
*Please be advised that in order to access the falls, you are required to walk over uneven surfaces, followed by a series of narrow boardwalk paths. The paths feature many sets of stairs and can be slippery due to the mist.

DAY 13, Friday - Iguassu, The Brazilian Falls, Rio de Janeiro
This morning cross the border to visit the Brazilian side of the majestic falls*, walking along the winding pathways of one of the world's greatest natural wonders. Iguassu consists of over 275 separate cataracts across a span of two and one-half miles, wider than Victoria Falls, higher than Niagara Falls, and more dramatic than both. Later, depart Iguassu on a flight to Rio, the vivacious "sun and fun" capital of South America. Tonight is at leisure. Perhaps go "out on the town" and discover the beat of the Samba or the Bossa Nova at one of the local clubs as you sip a Caipirinha, the popular Brazilian cocktail

DAY 14, Saturday - Rio de Janeiro and Tour of Corcovado Mountain
Awake this morning in remarkable Rio de Janeiro. Start the day with an ascent by a cog railway to the summit of Corcovado Hill. Here, at 2,400 feet above the city, stands the astonishing 125-foot statue of Christ the Redeemer. This statue that embraces the entire city, is designated as one of the seven "New Wonders of the World". At the peak, see wondrous sweeping views of the city and beaches; you'll understand why Rio is known as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. In the afternoon participate in the optional Carnival & Samba Experience. Visit one of the top Samba schools in the city and learn what made the Samba & Carnival, icons of Brazilian national identity. In the evening, be sure to sample the cuisine at some of the fabulous restaurants and cafes ringing the beachfront
