February 02, 2018

With it's valleys and mountains, Chile often attracts travelers that are looking to mark this impressive country off of their bucket list. Chile has numerous things to do and sights to see. Here's why you should make it a point to visit Chile this year.

Route Of Parks

To encourage locals and travelers to visit Chile, this country has created the Route of Parks. It consists of 17 different national parks that span from Tierra del Fuego to Carretera Austral. Visitors will have the chance to see things like snow-capped mountains at the Reserva Nacional Cerro Castillo to Pared de las Manos 10,000 year old cave paintings.

The Wine

A lot of great wine has come out of Chile recently and visitors are taking the time while in the country to sample some. Many vineyards have wine bars right on sight so you can taste as much wine as your stomach can hold. Another option is to go on a wine tour. Some vineyards aren't open to the public, but welcome tours.

Stargazing

One of the highlights of any trip to Chile for astronomy lovers, is stargazing. There are quite a few opportunities to escape the busy cities and head out to the dessert to see the stars up above. San Pedro de Atacama is a great place to see the stars, even if you don't have a telescope on hand. Without any city lights nearby, the stars are so bright that you will feel as if you can reach out and touch them.

Volcanoes

Chile is full of adventures, including getting to hike up a volcano. The country has around 3,000 volcanoes, with many of them still being active. In particular, Volcan Villarrica is a popular volcano to visits with snow covering it's slopes at times. If you are looking for a panoramic view, head over to Volcan Llaima. Visitors can enjoy the sites of the nearby Parque Nacional Conguillio from the summit of the volcano.

Easter Island

Considered to be on of the Earth's most remote places, this is the place to go for those that are looking for some solitude. Surprisingly there are quite a few hotels located here that include those that are budget friendly and those that are more luxurious. Visitors can go scuba diving off the coast or whale watch. An interesting feature of the island is the stone maoi. These somewhat human looking statues are thought to have been carved between 1250 and 1500 by the Rapa Nui people. There are over 900 of these statues located around the island.
